BMA joined hands with JICA to organize the meeting of the 8th joint Task Force to support in driving the implementation under the Bangkok Master Plan on Climate Change 2013-2023

On April 19th, 2022, at 1.30 P.M., Mr. Wirat Manassanitwong, Director-General of Department of Environment (DOE) acted as a chairman of the meeting of the 8th Joint Sectoral Task Force under the Project for Strengthening the Institutional Capacity for the Implementation of the Bangkok Master Plan on Climate Change 2013-2023 via the online video conference at Meeting Room 1, Department of Environment, BMA City Hall 2 (Din Daeng).

          DOE on behalf of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) gained supports and cooperation with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for driving the implementation under the Bangkok Master Plan on Climate Change 2013-2023. To allow the climate change operation in a continuous manner and in alignment with the global and national climate change policy, the Bangkok Master Plan on Climate Change 2021-2030 was thus developed. In this regard, the report of comprehensive review of the progress of the implementation at the final phase was prepared and this meeting was also arranged for considering relevant aspects.

This 8th Task Force meeting was also aimed for reporting the progress of implementing activities under the Project for Strengthening the Institutional Capacity for the Implementation of the Bangkok Master Plan on Climate Change 2013-2023 such as the progress of developing the New Master Plan by 2030 and adjusting work plan to conduct activities by 2022. For this meeting, there were several participants, as task force members, to join the meeting so that to jointly consider the outcomes of conducting activities for GHG mitigation and climate change adaptation to be indicated in the comprehensive review report at the final phase, and JICA expert team, and the local consultants also supported consideration and provided comments for further actions. Those task force members were the representatives from different departments under BMA namely Public Works Department, Traffic and Transportation Department, Drainage and Sewerage Department, Medical Service Department, City Planning and Urban Development Department, Health Department, Social Development Department, Culture, Sports and Tourism Department, Fire and Rescue Department, Strategy and Evaluation Department, and Department of Environment. 

The Director-General of DOE stated at the end of the meeting that this 8th task force meeting could helped enhance climate change operation in an effective manner in the future and pave the way for global warming problem-solving in an actual manner.
