BMA and JICA together organized the training module 4 for supporting the preparation of GHG mitigation target after 2020 and developing of the Bangkok Master Plan on Climate Change by 2030.

From 16th to 24thJuly 2020, at Department of Environment, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) City Hall 2 (Din Daeng), Climate Change Strategy (CCS) Sub-division, Air and Quality and noise Management Division, Department of Environment (DOE) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) jointly arranged the training module 4 which has the contents cover processes and techniques for developing and selecting measures to support GHG emission mitigation and adaptation to climate change.           From 16th to 24th July 2020, at Department of Environment, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) City Hall 2 (Din Daeng), Climate Change Strategy (CCS) Sub-division, Air and Quality and noise Management Division, Department of Environment (DOE) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) jointly arranged the training module 4 which has the contents cover processes and techniques for developing and selecting measures to support GHG emission mitigation and adaptation to climate change.

For this training, the task force members of different sectors under the Bangkok Master Plan on Climate Change 2013-2023 were trained in different periods of time. The task force members of efficient solid waste management and wastewater treatment sector joined the training activity on 16th July 2020. The task force members of green urban planning sector and adaptation planning sector took part in the training activity on 23rd July 2020. On July 24th, 2020, the task force members of environmentally sustainable transport sector and energy efficiency and alternative energy sector were trained and discussed different aspects related to the essence of this training activities to pave the way for setting new GHG target and developing the new Master Plan by 2030. For the overall activity for training the members of task force in respective sectors, it can be summarized as follows: With respect to the context of GHG mitigation, there was the objective to enhance knowledge, create learning processes, build an understanding of processes, techniques, selection and categorization of measures, urgent project prioritization, and selection of activities for GHG emission reduction from each sector under the current Master Plan namely environmentally sustainable transport sector, energy efficiency and alternative energy sector, efficient solid waste management and wastewater treatment sector, green urban planning sector.

With regard to the context of climate change adaptation planning, it also aimed at enhancing knowledge, generating learning processes, and building an understanding of processes, techniques for selecting and categorizing data and different measures, urgent project prioritization, and selection of activities for supporting climate change adaptation.

Hence, to accomplish the goal of this training activity, several related participants, in particular, task force members under the current Master Plan and relevant BMA staff were invited to the training activity for gaining beneficial knowledge and strengthening their capacity in driving the implementation on climate change according to the Master Plan, supporting the process for setting new target for GHG reduction, and developing the new Master Plan by 2030.

In this regard, JICA experts and local consultants of task forces were closely working and coaching with task forces of each sector under the current Master Plan as advisers and facilitators.
