Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) jointly organized the meeting of the 6th Working Group under the Project for Strengthening Institutional Capacity for Bangkok Master Plan on Climate Change 2013 – 2023

         On October 29th, 2021, Climate Change Strategy (CCS) Sub-division, Air and Quality and noise Management Division, Department of Environment (DOE), invited Mr. Wirat Manassanitwong, Director-General of Department of Environment (DOE) to be a chairman of the meeting of the 6th Working Group under the Project for Strengthening Institutional Capacity for Bangkok Master Plan on Climate Change 2013 – 2023 at Meeting Room 1, DOE, BMA City Hall 2 (Din Daeng) through the online video conference. 

         According to the Project for Strengthening Institutional Capacity for Bangkok Master Plan on Climate Change 2013 – 2023, BMA and JICA have collaborated a continuous manner. To direct the implementation in line with Thailand’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and Paris Agreement, Governor of Bangkok approved to set up the new GHG mitigation target by 2030. Now, BMA is in progress of developing the new Bangkok Master Plan on Climate Change 2021 – 2030. For such Working Group meeting, it was necessary to receive the comments and feedbacks from relevant stakeholders in order to jointly (1) push up the new Master Plan development and (2) build involvement, (3) consider the essence of the (draft) new Bangkok Master Plan for the achievement of the target for GHG mitigation from each sector by 2030 to pave the way for the future implementation of new Master Plan in a sustainable manner; therefore, both departments under the supervision of BMA and Royal Thai Governmental agencies were invited to take part in the meeting such as the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and also related departments under those ministries.

         Furthermore, there were additional discussion of the approaches to conduct the activities to be driven by 2022 and the public hearing of the new Master Plan which is expected to be organized as soon as possible.
