Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) jointly arranged the 7th Task Force meeting

           On September 28th, 2021, Climate Change Strategy (CCS) Sub-division, Air and Quality and noise Management Division, Department of Environment (DOE), invited Mr. Wirat Manassanitwong, Director-General of Department of Environment (DOE) to be a chairman of the meeting of the 7th Task Force under the Bangkok Master Plan on Climate Change 2013 – 2023 at Meeting Room 2, DOE, BMA City Hall 2 (Din Daeng).

     BMA and JICA have continuously cooperated for conducting the Project for Strengthening Institutional Capacity for Bangkok Master Plan on Climate Change 2013 – 2023. Hence, for driving the operation in accordance with Thailand’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and Paris Agreement, BMA, thus, set up the new target for GHG mitigation

     DOE on behalf of BMA jointly organized the 7th Task Force meeting with JICA. In such meeting, there were several aspects for presenting and reporting such as the progress of activities for driving the outcomes according to the Project for Strengthening Institutional Capacity for Bangkok Master Plan on Climate Change 2013 – 2023, the progress of activities under the current Bangkok Master Plan, the progress for developing new Bangkok Master Plan on Climate Change 2021 – 2030, and project activities to be conducted between 2021 and 2022. For this meeting, there were representatives from BMA departments to take part in the meeting through the online video conference namely Department of Environment, Traffic and Transportation Department, Department of Public Work, Strategy and Evaluation Department, Medical Service Department, Drainage and Sewerage Department, Department of City Planning and Urban Development, Fire and Rescue Department.

     For supporting the implementation, Task Forces under the Master Plan continuously participated in the meeting. This meeting was capable of creating the involvement from related departments for directing the implementation by BMA according to the new Bangkok Master Plan so as to lead to handle climate change in a concrete manner, and also to accomplish the target and ultimate goal.
